UPDATE: Ultima Thule Ambient Podcasts

EDIT: All good and back up again !

A message from George I just relay here :

Dear Ultima Thule listener,

You may have noticed that we have not updated our podcasts for the past 6 weeks.

This is due to an impending relocation of our website to a new, improved web hosting provider.

Ultima Thule has been making available podcasts of our weekly broadcasts since May 2005; we were in fact among first radio shows to be podcast anywhere in the world.

In January 2009 we doubled your weekly dose of Thule, by progressively releasing available programmes from our 20+ year archive as part of our podcast feed.

As a consequence our global audience has grown to such a phenomenal extent that our current web hosting provider is no longer able to handle the traffic volumes that we’re generating.

Atomic Skunk : “Binary Scenes”

A very nice record sent to me via Twitter :

“Binary Scenes” is the debut release by San Francisco Bay Area electronic artist, Atomic Skunk. Atomic Skunk’s music features “artful melodies with cinematic moodiness” and has been described as “Very meditative” and “Zen-like” with some “chaotic and dark elements/rhythms.” The album, Binary Scenes was recorded entirely with Ableton Live in Marin County, California and features 8 fresh and original tracks that “force a headspace of chill and peacefulness.” “Binary Scenes” is available now at iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and CD Baby.

Take your browser to the Atomic Skunk website to discover this album !

Ephemeral Mists: “Moon Ritual”

Moon Ritual” is the first record of Ephemeral Mists, aka Brett Branning. You can buy the CD from his website as wel as listen to some sample on his MySpace account.

The music of Ephemeral Mists is really a mix of electronica, down-tempo, world music and ambient :

Ephemeral mists began its musical journey during the end of 2008, when composer, Brett Branning (Abandoned Toys & The synthetic dream foundation), began fusing his cutting edge ambient electronics with the ancient musical traditions and instruments of the middle east and far east. The result is a stunningly beautiful ambient world of sound that goes well beyond the cliches of the genre and reaches for daunting new artistic and creative heights.

The mix between modern sounds and old and traditional ones is really good, and both blends perfectly for our listening pleasure ! My preferred track so far : “Eastern channels” because I love electronica so much ! “Awakening spirits” is also a great opener for the record, and a good sample of Ephemeral Mists music…

DaBourz on Last.fm : Ambient & Berlin School music

Warning: I’m speaking about myself here ! ;-)

Well, I finally decided to put online part of my music. Some pieces were already available via some  “Ambient” compilations on the Internet and some are still only available via a record company.

As I still not chosen how I wanted to distribute my music I ended up on Last.fm because they offer a solution for artists that seduce me at the moment: You can save your tracks their site and give the opportunity for everyone to listen to them in their entirely without allowing the download. For the moment it’s what I want.

So, if you love “Ambient” music with some “Berlin School” spirit, a little dark and cinematic, this is for you!

The album “Early Works” brings together (well when I’ll finish uploading everything) music made before 2007, I think a dozen pieces in total, a kind of best-of of the old!

So come on, listen to it, tag, comment, share, be social!

Anyma – “Volume 2″

Anyma new album, “Volume 2″ (original name) is now out.

This new record is a great mix between New Age and Ambient music, taking in some ways the “best of both worlds”.

What the artist is saying:

Get inspired by the seductive and angelic ambient music of Anyma. This album is a sonic mandala that invites the listener to travel into the deepness of imagination.

A warning from myself: There are some voices, even if not “Enigma style” you need to know. You can buy and download the record as well as listen to some samples on their discography page: Anyma’s music.
