Cinema Volta, the Daily Ambience is a blog by John Maxwell Hobbs, but a very special type of blog :

John chose to compose and to post a new song everyday, just like you would do with a regular blog. Here what he is saying :

As an exploration of ambient music and the limits of my own creativity, I have been composing and releasing a new song every day.
Sometimes these songs are sketches, sometimes full-blown compositions, it all depends on my inspiration and my available time.

The result is impossible to describe, as the range of music covered in those daily posts is too wide, and very different. John is posting since January 30 of this year and so only a few weeks remains ! So jump in, listen to all the old songs (more than 280 !), and tune in everyday for your dose of ambient !

Altus, aka Mike Carss, just released a new album : “Autumn Breeze”.

What the artist is saying about this new record :

Surrounded by the change in season, Carss’ inspiration finally emerged to create “Autumn Breeze”. As gentle as it may seem, the breeze brings the lingering scent of a somber change. Fall brings much beauty to the world and that beauty does shine through, but not as brightly as was intended.

“Autumn Breeze” is the last of 6 albums done by Altus, all of them being free to download on his website.

I’m a big fan of Mike’s music, that I would describe as “calm symphonic ambient”, listening to it a lot during the day. On that last Opus, my favorite will be “Green to Gold” that is opening the record.

You should also pay attention to a series of 4 albums Altus did around the 4 elements theme : Fire, Water, Earth and Air.

Fire is one of my all time preferred record, mixing perfectly electronic and more classic music.

You should really give it a try !

StillStream is a live ambient internet radio, probably one of the best. It’s playing real quality ambient music, performed by a list of very talented artists.

The most important thing with StillStream is the “Live” word, meaning that a lot of shows are on the schedule, run by Palancar, Scott Turner and Stephen Philips at this time. Often some live music is performed, making every show something really special.

But what is making a real difference with other radios that you may listen, is the people behind it. Those guys are real ambient musicians, crazy and really fun ! During the Live shows you can tune in their IRC channel to discuss with the “operators” as well with ambient music fans from all around the world.

Most of the time the night shows are running much more longer than planned, and that usually there that all those fun and crazy things happen, on the chat and with the music !

Be sure to tune in to give it a try, you’ll soon be like me, addicted !

Welcome to the Ambient Blog. This is the first post. Normally this is where we introduce the whole thing !

So, the “Ambient Blog”, as the name says is my attempt to create a place where Ambient and Electronic Music fans, listenners and makers could find what’s going on in “their” world about releases, Artists, gear, software, radios …

I’ve got a lot of ideas about reviews, interviews, exclusive material, I just hope I’ll have enough time and chance to make this happen. Don’t hesitate to contact me and to participate.
